Their females were all slain during witch hunts and inquisitions. The few remaining vampyre males are rich, power-mad, and horny.

Desperate to avert extinction, they’ve been hybridizing with humans through their top-secret Speciation Project to create reproductively functioning females of their own kind. Thirty-five years ago, they set their deadliest enforcer, MICHAEL STUART to guard ERINN CALLAHAN—the little girl they hoped would grow up to save their species. But Michael has qualms.

Erinn’s perfect faith in Michael has made him remember the man he used to be. He longs for the redemption he expects only she can provide, and he wants to make her his bride.

When The Council's envoy comes for her, Michael’s chooses whose side he's on—deciding they can have her for their breeding project—over his dead body.

To "save" Erinn, Michael plans to murder his bloodsire, inveigle the help of the estranged son with whom he’s desperate to make amends, and convince The Council that Erinn is no one’s property—or slay them all. Even if his gambit succeeds, he may lose Erinn forever—to his son. If it fails, it could cost Michael, and his son, their very lives.

On the other hand, Erinn might just save them all.

Fast paced, full of depth and mind expanding.

I rarely buy fiction, but after reading Rise, Chalice kept popping up in my mind.
I wasn't disappointed as I got drawn into a world of vampires and psychic manipulation. I felt part of 'my self' being unlocked at various points and gaining deeper awareness about what this reality is. Loved it and will re-read while listening to 'The Portal' binaural audio. 👌
A must read.

High adventure and love story that cannot be put down! Immediately had to get next book in the series to continue! Addictive in a good way! This book will immerse you in it and teach you about lucidity and the implications and applications- but you hardly realize all that you are learning! The story moves very quickly and the reader never knows what will happen next. The characters are love-able and relatable and well-developed. So much heart and soul and so much to learn! A mind-stretching book! Highly recommend!

Vampyres That'll Leave You Breathless

Wow! These are vampyres like you have never experienced them before. The author's education in sciences, particularly biology and psychology, is up front and centered. These are very sexy vampyres, and the relationships are as deeply layered as the psychology of the characters is rich. Erinn Callahan, a repressed biologist, hits age forty and, as her metabolism begins to fail, she feels like she's missed out on so much pleasure in life--setting it aside to accomplish something lasting in the world she loves. Now she discovers she's the product of a project that manipulated her genetics, that she's vampyre, and she has a very long time to live--not just to accomplish more contribution to the world--but to explore her formerly repressed sexuality and identity as a woman.

Paeter Stuart is a vampyre male as loving as he is dangerous. He's kept to himself for centuries, trying to avoid hurting any more women because he lost himself once and killed the woman he loved while mating with her. His father Michael Stuart told him it was not his fault, that the evil clan Elder, Old Stuart, tunneled into his psyche and slew Paeter's bride, Angela, as an act of revenge against ichael for his disobedience, but Paeter's too afraid of what he might do to try again.

And then he meets Erinn. All Hell breaks loose in the quiet life he's spent decades creating for himself. His grandson, Philip Caballero, shows up converted to vampyre as a rampaging revenant only 19 years old--claiming Paeter raped him while drunk, making him vampyre. Paeter remembers none of it--but he has been drinking, a lot lately, and he's had a few blackouts, so... Unsure of what to think, he's dead attracted to Erinn and determined to NOT do with/to her as he is fiercely inclined to do. He's on probation with The Council of Elders after all. One more slip up will find him with a termination team of enforcers at his door--and he has the strong suspicion his own father is close at hand orchestrating events so that he, himself, will be trapped into participating with the same Speciation Project that created Erinn.

Michael Stuart, Paeter's father, has been covertly watching over Erinn since she was just five, and he's deeply in love with, and bonded by blood to Erinn. The empathic connection between he and Erinn is so strong that they co-experience whatever physically happens to each other. Michael would cherish being her bloodsire--and time is short for Erinn. If she is not made vampyre soon, she will die of metabolic collapse, but Michael is the bloodget of the clan Elder, Old Stuart--and he knows, if he brings Erinn over himself, Old Stuart will use his sway over Michael to control and abuse Erinn--using Michael's own body to do it! Michael would sooner die. He arranges by way of a letter to dupe Erinn into coming to Spain and his son Paeter's hotel--where calamity ensues in all manner of ways, both satisfying and horrifying, as Old Stuart works from behind the scenes to make sure Paeter's grandson, Philip Caballero--who Old Stuart made vampyre--becomes Erinn's lover and bloodsire, ensuring Old Stuart's ability to control her through Philip.

But why doesn't Old Stuart simply make her vampyre himself? And who is the Little Voice in Erinn's mindspace that Old Stuart so fears?

Like Game of Thrones, it's a little challenging to get all the characters and their roles in your head at first, but once you do, the plot twists and turns with one hot and horrifying scene after another--while a broadening view of Reality unfolds in the readers head. Richly written and imaginative, this book, and the whole series, is as mind expanding as it is erotic dynamite! Vampyres will never be the same after you read this work--and neither will you.

Reimagining vampire fiction

When biologist Erinn Callahan accepts an unexpected invitation from a stranger to take part in a scientific study in Spain, she finds herself at the center of a conflict between vampires who want to keep her safe and a powerful ancient vampire who wants her for his own purposes and is willing to destroy anyone to claim her. Vague memories from her past are unburied even as she longs to unwrap a dream — or is it?— of a forbidden love affair. What emerges is a tautly written story woven together from the perspectives of each character. The tale speeds like a jaguar to an ending that leaves you wanting more. And more you can have, as the author, Mycailín Móhr, promises sequels soon. Make room on your bookshelf, because Chalice is a welcome and worthy addition that reimagines the world of vampire fiction.

Mind blowing!

An alternative reality where the female vampyres have all gone and the surviving males are trying to perpetuate the species is focused on Erinn who for her sins is the best option they have. Because she is the only one, all the Old Stuart, Michael, and Paeter are fighting to gain possession (or kill her - no wonder they are dying out!). The shady 'speciation project' is also running, and they need bits of her to try to make more vampyres. Poor soul. To make matters worse, she is off her head a load of the time on painkillers, and many things seem to happen to her outside her control... until the last few chapters when she finally gets some balls (!!!?) in more ways than the obvious. Very rude in parts, but it's great to read a story that doesn't beat about the bush (!) or pussyfoot (!) in the way of some others.
Hang on to your hat. (!)
